Long-term ownership value defines the 2025 Ford Explorer ST, which balances proven durability, a powerful 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine, and a clean CARFAX one-owner history. This SUV stands out as a high-value choice for families or individuals wanting a vehicle that retains reliability and resale appeal over the years.
Pragmatic buyers seeking an SUV that handles daily demands with minimal surprises will appreciate the Explorer ST's sturdy 4WD system and robust build. The one-owner, no-accident history contributes to confidence for those commuting in the Homewood, IL area, especially when factoring in unpredictable Midwest weather. Its thoughtful feature set and strong track record make it a practical investment for anyone prioritizing reliability and peace of mind.
The Explorer ST is engineered for lasting performance, utilizing a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD. This powertrain is recognized for its longevity and ability to tackle both everyday driving and more demanding family road trips. With EPA ratings of 18 MPG city and 25 MPG highway, fuel stops are less frequent than many full-size competitors, reducing cost over time.
Safety is supported by a comprehensive suite of equipment, including ABS brakes, electronic stability control, dual front and side impact airbags, and active emergency communication via 911 Assist. The rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers, and auto high-beam headlights add layers of protection in daily driving. These systems are designed to help safeguard your investment by reducing the likelihood and severity of accidents during every stage of ownership.
Key features enhance both comfort and value in the Explorer ST. Equipment Group 400A Standard Package brings heated and ventilated Miko Sport captain's chairs, a power liftgate, navigation system, and a B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen. Tri-zone automatic temperature control, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and a panoramic sunroof ensure a premium experience for all passengers. The inclusion of split folding third-row seating increases flexibility for cargo and passenger needs.
Compared to segment rivals like the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot, the Explorer ST offers a proven powertrain with 4WD as standard, helping to preserve resale value and limit depreciation over time. The clean CARFAX and one-owner history strengthen its position against alternatives, ensuring buyers are investing in a vehicle with verified long-term reliability and ownership confidence.
What warranty coverage came with this vehicle? The Explorer ST originally included a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty that transfers to subsequent owners, plus 5-year/unlimited-mile corrosion coverage and 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance. Is this brand reliable long-term? Fordâs Explorer line has a strong reputation for durability, especially when regularly maintained. How does the fuel economy compare? With 18 MPG city and 25 MPG highway, the Explorer ST stands out among performance-oriented SUVs for efficiency without compromising capability.

So far so good - smooth ride - plenty of power for a 2.3 liter 4 cyl which coming from someone who drove a 5.0 V8 for 20 yrs- much better on gas - 4.0
Served our family well!
by Beth on 2/19/2026 11:46:55 PM
Trading my car in next week, I am gonna miss my Explorer. It’s been a good family car. Draw backs: the screen is glitchy at times. Some electronics malfunctioned and I won’t lie, they can be costly to fix. Comfortable, spacious. I never had any mechanical problems with the car, but I did take very good care of it at well. I maintained all recommended services and any replacements were all genuine Ford parts. I hope whoever buys our car, loves it as much as we did.
