With an odometer reading of 79,752 miles, this truck has demonstrated its ability to handle real-world use while maintaining efficient operation. Its EcoBoost 2.0L I4 turbocharged engine and AWD system, paired with 22 city and 28 highway MPG, ensure that owners enjoy fewer stops at the gas station and a lower overall cost of operation over time.
Pragmatic buyers looking for a truck that balances capability with modern features will appreciate what this Maverick offers. It is designed for those who demand a vehicle that can handle both daily commutes and work-related tasks, especially in climates like the greater Homewood, IL area where AWD and heated amenities provide tangible benefits during winter months. The XLT trim includes comfort, technology, and practical equipment that enhance everyday usability without inflating operating costs, making it ideal for value-focused owners seeking to maximize every dollar spent.
The Maverick's EcoBoost 2.0L turbocharged engine is engineered for strong, efficient performance and long-term durabilityâ"a combination that supports a reputation for 150k+ mile trucks. The 8-speed automatic transmission delivers smooth shifts, while AWD gives extra traction for all-weather confidence. This truckâs 22 city and 28 highway MPG ratings mean drivers can tackle both urban and highway miles with minimal fuel expense, making it suitable for high-mileage owners who want to keep maintenance and running costs under control.
Ownership costs are further controlled by advanced safety systems that help protect both the truck and its passengers. Ford Co-Pilot360 with BLIS Blind Spot Info System and Cross-Traffic Alert enhances driver awareness in busy traffic, while the lane-keeping system and rear exterior parking camera provide extra layers of protection during daily driving and parking. These active safety features reduce the risk of costly incidents, helping safeguard your investment for years to come.
Everyday usability is further supported by the XLT Luxury Package, which brings heated seats and a soft vinyl wrapped heated steering wheel for comfort during cold weather. The 8-way power driver seat adapts to your preferred position, while LED box lighting makes loading after dark simple. With a 400W inverter and rear USB console, this truck powers tools and devices on the go, and the trailer hitch receiver expands its practical range for hauling, all while maintaining manageable ownership costs.
Against segment competitors like the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado, the Maverick shines with its superior fuel economy, user-friendly tech, and efficient EcoBoost powertrain. While rivals may offer comparable utility, this truckâs blend of modern amenities and proven reliability translates to lower long-term costs and stronger resale value. For buyers focused on smart ownership economics, the Maverickâs balance of efficiency and work-ready features sets it apart.
What is the fuel economy in city and highway driving? This truck is rated at 22 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. Is this brand reliable long-term? Nice little truck with great MPG
by Alex on 7/18/2026 2:12:33 AM
I drive a lot for my job and this truck has been great for its MPG. I switched to this from a Bronco sport and they handle very much the same. However I was only getting 25 MPG with that. Averaging 41 with the Mav! - 5.0
2nd Mav
by Generalmgr on 5/10/2026 12:26:28 PM
2025 Lariat hybrid AWD. Had a 2023 2.0 XLT. No real complaints about either. Hybrid efficiency around town is great, like 50 mpg. Highway at 70mph I’m only getting 33-34. Tows my 2-ATV trailer ok, but plan ahead if any get up and go is needed. The truck has plenty of torque at lower speeds but the lack of power at higher speeds is noticeable. This is my first EVT, didn’t think I’d like it but it really works perfectly. The best part is going downhill… the truck will maintain the speed you’re at when you lift off the gas. When the truck transitions from electric to gas, there is zero indication…no noise or shudder…zero. If you’re not looking at the dash you’d never know what mode the truck is in. The Lariat hybrid is much quieter overall than the EB. Auto headlights work really well. Did great in the heavy snow we had this year. Lane centering works very well. Few nitpicks: no fog light option? C’mon man. I’m not a fan of the touch only hvac controls, and they lag a bit on startup. The various menus in the dash cluster and in the infotainment screen are not at all intuitive, they are ridiculously bad….whoever signed off on those needs to find another profession. Good thing you don’t have to do much in there once you have things set up the way you like. I wish the truck had a slightly bigger battery…it would be nice to be able to go a a mile or two on electric only if you’re in Eco mode. The Lariat should have a super-cruise option, and a built in dash cam option. A cold weather package would be icing on the cake , especially if it included covering up the various under body areas that appear vulnerable from being open to the elements. Overall: yes I’d buy another Maverick, and I do recommend them to others….but… if other manufacturers come out with a truck that has all my wish list items, then I’d consider switching. - 5.0
A versatile vehicle! 2023 Mav Tremor
by TremorNV on 11/23/2025 3:02:38 AM
I went with the Tremor trim for more off-road capability. So far there hasn’t been a thing I couldn’t do with this Mav. I’ve gone on long road trips, explored rough trails, loaded lumber, hauled a sectional, towed a side by side with it, driven in Tahoe snow and many other things. First, I’d say it’s actually a fun drive. It really sticks to road and handling it is super easy. Yes, it has a plastic interior and the tech does feel a little outdated but you get what you pay for. It’s a 33k mini truck. I haven’t had any issues. The heated steering wheel is the hottest of any other one I’ve had. It has over gotten stuck on me and the bed is like 6.5 ft long with the tail gate down. Capable of hauling ten foot wood, which I’ve done. The gas mileage on my Tremor (Awd eco boost) is 28-29, which makes me happy. Truthfully, back in 2019 when Ford brought the Ranger back… it should have been this truck. It’s a great little truck, beats the Santa Cruz any day!
