The 2020 Ford Explorer XLT immediately surrounds you in a sense of calm with its Ebony interior, soft-touch surfaces, and a cabin designed for quiet comfort. Magnetic paintwork draws the eye, while the seamless integration of technology and thoughtful ergonomics elevates every drive.
Refinement is at the core of this SUV's appeal, making it ideal for drivers who expect comfort, advanced features, and a versatile layout for both daily commutes and family travel. The Ebony Cloth seats, equipped with a 2nd Row 35/30/35 Bench and E-Z Entry, offer accessible comfort for up to seven passengers. In regions like Homewood, IL, where changing seasons demand adaptable vehicles, the Explorer's heated door mirrors and tri-zone climate control ensure a pleasant environment year-round. The one-owner pedigree further supports its value for those seeking a feature-rich, classically refined vehicle.
On the road, the SUV's 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission delivers power with remarkable smoothness. Every gear change is quick and seamless, minimizing vibration and maximizing quietness. The rear-wheel-drive layout contributes to a balanced and composed ride, whether gliding down highways or maneuvering through city streets. Noise, vibration, and harshness are well contained, creating an effortless, relaxed driving experience that defines modern luxury. With an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, efficiency complements refinement, allowing for longer, peaceful journeys between stops.
Safety in the Explorer is engineered to work invisibly but effectively, adding to the sense of security and sophistication. Features like Blind Spot Monitoring, ABS brakes, and an Exterior Parking Camera Rear provide confidence without distraction, while SYNC 3 911 Assist offers emergency communication seamlessly integrated into the driving experience. Auto high-beam headlights and electronic stability control respond intelligently to changing conditions, letting you focus on the journey ahead. The SUVâs suite of airbags, including knee and overhead protection, underscores a commitment to comprehensive, unobtrusive safety.
Premium features abound, enhancing both tactile quality and user experience. The cabin is equipped with dual-zone automatic temperature control, a power liftgate for effortless access, and Unique Cloth Captain's Chairs that balance support with softness. SYNC 3 connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto puts navigation and entertainment at your fingertips, while the leather steering wheel and steering wheel-mounted audio controls keep everything intuitive. Rear air conditioning ensures all passengers enjoy the same comfort, while ambient touches like illuminated entry and a sophisticated overhead console complete the upscale atmosphere.
Compared to premium alternatives like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, the Explorer stands out for its blend of acoustic refinement, advanced technology, and ownership satisfaction.
What premium materials are used in the interior? The Ebony Cloth upholstery is soft yet durable, complemented by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and well-finished surfaces throughout. How quiet is the cabin? The SUVâs engineering deliberately suppresses road and wind noise, creating a tranquil environment for all passengers.

Love it.
by Alex on 8/9/2026 11:55:02 PM
Single guy looking for a vehicle that is fun to drive but can haul junk too, and this fits the bill. I came from a 2018 Lincoln MKZ 3.0t AWD, this has all the same features but this does it better. Mine had one minor panel issue the dealership is fixing, but otherwise everything is solid. Installed a BOV, I find it funny to blow past people with a quiet exhaust and a loud Spanish sound as they disappear into the distance. Fantastic nighttime viability over the lower trims. Actually just better over all than the lower trims. Bolt ons and a tune just puts this in its own league for the price you pay, the only thing that comes close is a 2026 dodge Durango RT 392. ST is not for everyone but it is for me. "Sporty" family hauler my butt. Wrong demographic. This is a genuine fast mid-sized SUZ that you'd have to go luxury to get close to the performance numbers otherwise. - 5.0

I love the suv its fantastic to drive only issue I have is the wind noise in the driver seat but I'd sleep in it every night the seats are comfortable.
